HYDROSEXUALS CLINIC
The Hydrosexual Clinic is a speculative, performative institution for communal healing, rest, and regeneration. In a subversive, grassroots, and humorous way, it draws on the conventions of medical institutions to propose non-anthropocentric and non-ableist forms of care for human and non-human bodies, while also bringing greater visibility to public health in the context of the climate and environmental crisis.
At the heart of our project is hydrosexuality — understood as an affective, embodied, and sensual relationship with water, the natural environment, and one’s own body. The Clinic responds to the strain placed on bodies and nervous systems under late capitalism, to cultures of productivity and exhaustion, and to the lack of spaces for rest in the public realm. It offers a redefinition of embodiment, an invitation to play, and access to sensual relationships with the Blue Planet.
How does it work?
The Clinic operates for two hours as an open and accessible space where participants can:
- take part in performative “consultations” and receive “prescriptions” for hydrosexual treatments,
- participate in rituals of rest, drifting, and listening to the water,
- experience gentle, somatic regenerative practices,
- join conversations, micro-lectures, and communal activities.
The project is participatory, non-hierarchical, and inclusive. No prior preparation or knowledge is required — it operates through experience, affect, and presence.

Commission a Hydrosexual Clinic
We invite institutions, festivals, cultural organisations, and other partners to commission a new, dedicated edition of the Hydrosexual Clinic — developed specifically in response to your context, space, and community.
Each edition can be shaped around:
- a specific public space or environment,
- the institution’s programme and artistic framework,
- local communities, audiences, and ecological conditions.
A commissioned Clinic can take the form of:
- an independent artistic project,
- a component of a festival, summer programme, or environmental initiative,
- a participatory and educational programme,
- a site-specific intervention responding to a particular body of water, landscape, or community.
Rather than offering a fixed format, we treat each Clinic as a situated practice — a temporary institution that emerges in relation to a particular place and its human and more-than-human inhabitants.
We are open to developing the concept together, including the artistic framework, programme, schedule, production requirements, and budget.
